The Frecciarossa estate is in the hills of Casteggio in the Oltrepò Pavese area, still remembered today as “Old Piedmont”. The land of the estate is on the first strip of hills, in an area that has always been ideal for viticulture.
The microclimate, territory and wine-making tradition make up the unmistakeable terroir of Frecciarossa.
The name Frecciarossa, that identifies an area already defined by old military papers from the Risorgimento, derives from an ancient local term “fraccia”, which later became freccia, meaning landslide in the local dialect and rossa due to the red colour of the clayey soils.
45° 00' 00" North - 9° 08' 34" East are the coordinates that lead into the heart of the cellar Frecciarossa. It isn’t a coincidence given that the 45th parallel crosses the land of the great wine such as Piemonte and Bordeaux’s region, so it can be defined as the Wine’s Parallel.
